Vintage 1920s, Art Deco

Inspired shoot

This shoot was a joy from start to finish. On top of working with a talented team on a fun day out, the photo editing process was very special for me. The glamour of a subtle 20s theme is a perfect fit for my photo editing style which is a touch dark and moody with rich, natural colours.

I ventured further afield than my usual haunts in the Peak District to shoot at the Manor Rooms, Drayton on this occasion. The venue’s large glass panes and open-plan design is ideal for my style of photography which favours soft, natural light while flash takes a back seat.

We made the most of every beautiful corner with styled-to-perfection detail shots and couple setups. Details include Great Gatsby inspired wedding stationery, a beautiful black and gold cake and pure art deco bridal accessories.

As my work depicts intimacy and emotion, it can be challenging to achieve with models who have just met! Fortunately Amber and Steve immediately had a great rapport and trusted our creative direction.

I’m over the moon with the final photographs which feel tender, natural and fun while showcasing our collective efforts on contemporary-meets-vintage style.

Hair and Make-Up Artist Mazz Loxton who organised the shoot, says “I was very inspired by the dark, moody feel of the 1920’s, and wanted to create an Art Deco wedding shoot inspired by the era, but that wouldn’t come across as cliche." I think we really pulled that off.
